Our popular Summer Mid-week and Winter rates are on sale.
We've added the Summer Mid-week Sale rates for online bookings with the bunkhouse now available from just £89 Sunday to Thursday until the end of September. There is now also the Winter Seasonal Sale rates to the online booking service and you can now book the bunk house for only £88 per night from October onwards. Our low season rates are available as we appreciate that the winter months are less popular and allow travellers on a slightly tighter budget to come and experience the dales. We hear that walking is good in the autumn months as there are no queues at the styles on the Three Peaks route, when compared with popular summer weekends when there can often be a wait. Our local pub the Craven Heifer is also open in the winter months and serving food, but we recommend calling ahead to reserve a table as the kitchen does occasionally close early in the low season. A popular alternative is the Knights Table restaurant in Knights Stainforth which does serve food daily until 9 pm and offers a great value cooked breakfast, options include a Full English.

We've had a few calls in lately about the bunkhouse and in this post we'll answer a few popular queries.
Will I share with other guests? Greystones Bunkhouse has never been available on a 'hostel-style' basis and we don't have any plans to run it like this. This means that if you make a booking online the bunkhouse is yours for your dates that you booked. Even if there's only 1 or 2 of you staying in the bunkhouse it is still exclusively yours and we'll never let another group come and share with you. Does the Wi-Fi work with it being so rural? The Wi-Fi in Stainforth is not super-fast but it works for most services. If there's six of you booked in and you all want to stream Netflix or YouTube in HD then you might find it to be too slow. But if you just want to check email, browse and watch Netflix or YouTube in standard definition it'll be fine. We are having an upgrade to Fibre later in 2018 and we'll post an update when its up and running. Can we start the Yorkshire Three Peaks walk from Greystones Bunkhouse? Some groups (though a minority) do start from Stainforth, you'll add an extra 6 miles to the walk as its 3 miles to Horton-in-Ribblesdale from Stainforth. Our regular groups do tend to start from Stainforth but charity walkers tend to prefer to drive up (or taxi) to Horton-in-Ribblesdale. If you are going to walk up to Horton-in-Ribblesdale I'd advise not walking up on the roadside as there isn't pavement on parts of the road and there can be a lot of lorries from the quarries, you can walk over the hills parallel to the road. Is there a kitchen? Our facilities only include a kettle and 20-litre fridge with freezer compartment and dining table, complimentary tea, coffee and milk are included. We don't have a kitchen as such and recommend the Knights Table Restaurant which serves a full English breakfast for £5.50 or the Craven Heifer which is round the corner. The Knights Table does offer a discount for Greystones Bunkhouse guests, its best to call in advance and book a table and confirm the discount amount over the phone when you reserve the table. I hope this was a useful post, if there's anything you'd like to know before you book do contact us. The Craven Heifer's changed hands and welcome to the new landlords.
Our local pub has changed hands once again however things are looking up for 2018 with a new experienced couple managing the pub. Those who remember the previous landlords will remember the good food and what can only be described as a very, very Yorkshire welcome which didn't always go down too well with some visitors (see TripAdvisor 2017!). The pub is offering traditional fare with the popular Craven Burger on the menu and drinks can be enjoyed in the beer garden which overlooks the beck and the bridge. The pub is 50 yards from Greystones Bunkhouse and specializes in British cuisine and serves lunch and dinner (reservations required). The Craven Heifer is still tied to Thwaites brewery, good news for the regular ale drinker and offers the cask ales and Signature favourites. We advise calling ahead if you want to dine in the restaurant as the kitchen occasionally closes early in the winter months. |
